Matthew Morency joined TU Delft as a PhD student of prof. Geert Leus in April 2016. He works on a project on "perpetual sensor networks" for large scale wide area monitoring, wherein the plan is to investigate different variations of sensing algorithms in which sensors have to autonomously decide wether they have measured some informative data or not by comparing their data against some decision boundary. The research will investigate reduced complexity approaches to problems such as energy management, sensor modality selection, and event detection.
Matthew was an MSc student at Aalto University (Finland). He received a Best Student Paper Award at IEEE CAMSAP 2015, IEEE International Workshop on Computational Advances in Multi-Sensor Adaptive Processing.
